I'm a retired Electrical Engineer who worked on the radar in fighter planes for 31 years, including 5 years in the Netherlands and five years aboard various US aircraft carriers (USS Enterprise, USS America, USS Saratoga, USS Oriskany, and USS Constellation).

I joined the Singularly Speaking Toastmasters Club in June 1986 in Fort Worth, Texas and was a member of 5 clubs within a month...and I never looked back. January 1991 I was transferred from Texas to Baltimore, and joined a club in District 27 (Lone Star Toastmasters) and then one in District 18 (Gaveliers). Currently I'm a member and mentor to Nu Genesis Toastmasters Club and two prison Toastmasters Gavel Clubs (for 14 years).

Along with my wife, we started a Toastmasters club at the Jessup Pre-Release Unit, Jessup Correctional Facility, Jessup, MD (2005-2019, closed after COVID) and in 2016 we started a Gavel Club at the Maryland Correctional Facility for Women (2016-2019, closed after COVID).

At my first District function, a judging workshop, I met the woman who would become my wife, Karen Kidwell Storey, DTM5 We have been married 26 years, both love Toastmasters and love to travel.
